Treatments

Anxiety & Stress

Anxiety is how you feel when you are worried, tense or afraid, often about events and situations which are about to happen or scenarios you imagine happening in the future. Anxiety can affect your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and can continue even when the cause of anxiety is not clear to you.

Hypnotherapy can help you see things from a different perspective and resolve the thoughts and reactions that create your anxieties, helping you to relax and to break the cycle of negative thinking and dread, building your confidence and self-esteem.

Phobias & Fears

Hypnosis has been shown to be a highly effective treatment for people suffering with a phobias, fears and traumatic experiences.

I really enjoy helping people become free of their phobias. Some phobias can be cured in just 1 session,  some take a little longer.

A phobia (from the Greek “phobos” meaning fear), is defined as a persistent, abnormal and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels the person to avoid it.

So phobias are irrational, but some may seem more irrational than others.  However to the person who has the phobia the fear is real.

These are just a few of different  phobias:

  • Fear of Flying (Aviophobia)
  • Fear of Needles and Injections (Trypanophobia)
  • Fear of Confined Spaces (Claustrophobia)
  • Fear of Dogs (Cynophobia)
  • Fear of Public Speaking (performance anxiety)
  • Fear of Blushing (Erythrophobia)
  • Fear of Being Sick (Emetophobia)
  • Fear of the Dark (Myctophobia)
  • Fear of Birds (Ornithophobia)
  • Fear of Rats and Mice (Musophobia)
  • Fear of Heights (Acrophobia)

Insomnia

Insomniacs usually fall into one of two categories. Those who have difficulty getting to sleep, and those who manage to get to sleep ok but wake up in the middle of the night and have difficulty getting back to sleep.

In both cases the result is getting up in the morning feeling tired and exhausted.

Sometimes behavioural changes, such as not going to bed until you’re tired, or not watching TV or reading in bed, may help.  But more often than not the lack of sleep is due to emotional reasons.  This may be stress or worry, or perhaps due to past emotional traumas.

Hypnotherapy can help you get to the underlying cause of the problem, help you overcome any feelings of stress, worry or anxiety and help programme your mind to sleep better.

Addictions

Addiction is defined as not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you.

Addiction is most commonly associated with gambling, drugs, alcohol and smoking but it’s possible to be addicted to just about anything.

For example online addiction – as computer and mobile phone use has increased, so too has addictions with these devices.  People can spend hours each day and night on social media and gaming.

Addressing destructive behaviours whilst in a hypnotic state can help addicts to quit,  changing their thought processes and behaviours.

Confidence

Confidence is a state of mind where you have belief and faith in yourself, your ability, talents and strengths. Projecting confidence helps you gain credibility, make a strong first impression, deal with pressure, and tackle personal and professional challenges. It’s also an attractive trait, as projecting confidence helps put others at ease.

Since hypnotherapy is suited to working with the subconscious mind, it can be an effective tool in improving confidence and self-esteem.

It can help you become more confident, happier, and more positive.

I’ll help you identify your strengths, and focus on what you can do, rather than what you can’t.

Panic Attacs

A panic attack happens when your body is responding to fear.  In short, it is an exaggeration of your body’s natural response to excitement, stress or danger.

They tend to end as quickly as they begin, but the thing to remember is that they are not harmful.  It’s the body’s way of reacting to a situation.

A typical panic attack will only last between 5 and 20 minutes, can come in waves for up to two hours.  This can feel like a lifetime.

Hypnotherapy for panic attacks can help you regain a sense of control and normality in your life.  It can help you understand what may have caused your anxiety, help you recognise signs at the onset of and provide you with tools to manage and overcome the feelings.
